Total index crime in Beat 2431 was down by less than 1% for the first eight months of 2008, compared to the same period in 2007.
There was just one less index crime through August than last year -- 211 total this year compared to 212 last year. Looking more closely at the crime categories, there were four more robberies and five more aggravated assaults and batteries. There were nine fewer thefts and one less car theft through August 2007 compared to the same period last year.
And in 2007, crime dropped almost 12% compared to 2006.
